Fathers, victims of genocidation
The whole world today celebrates FATHER’S DAY. The world dedicates a especial day to honor fathers as fathers are one of the most important influences in the lives of children, and their unconditional love is an indispensable anchor of certainty and strength.
However, as children in the world rejoice with their respective father, it is sad to contemplate that here in Biliran, 2 families have mourned because of the brutal killing of their father. Their lives had not been spared from any political problems that provide great havoc in our peaceful place. One of the many unfortunate, regrettable aspects of the tragic events of June 7th, 2008 besides the fact that two people have lost their lives. more

REGARDING THE PERSON OF STEPHEN GREINKE AND HIS MALICIOUS ACCUSATIONS AGAINST THE BISHOP OF NAVAL
We, the Clergy and faithful of the Diocese of Naval, would like to express our strongest condemnation to the lies peddled by Stephen Greinke against the bishop of Naval, the Most Rev. Filomeno G. Bactol, D.D.
Last January 2, 2008, Stephen Greinke, in a nationally televised network, has accused the bishop of sexually molesting young boys. We are aghast at this accusation because the bishop is a person of integrity whose ministry of 40 years (15 years in the seminary as formator, 7 years as Pastor, and 18 years as Bishop of Naval) has never been enmeshed in any controversy, much less scandal. We are appalled even more at the brazermess of Greinke as to impute upon the good name of the bishop the very same crime he was accused of doing against innocent young boys in the very Association he bas come to found, purportedly to proclaim the love of God only to find out it has become a trap for his sexual perversions! Such lies therefore that he has concocted can anly come from a heart whose hatred is as deep as his own twisted understanding of what is good and moral. ..... more

I am not a Filipino, never considered myself one a long time ago. I am a Cebuano and my late father once said: "There's a whale of a difference between the two". And that distinction between the Cebuano and Filipino is never more pronounced than the result of the 2001 Senatorial Elections. The election results nationwide from Manila to Mindanao showed an even trend, far below the expectations of the anti-Erap advocates. Can you believe that? After we've been screwed in the ass by a pea-brained Tagawg! But the Cebuanos voted differently. We Cebuanos voted with the same clear sightedness and maturity that scared the shit out of Marcos and his KBL lap dogs who despite massive cheating and terrorism in collusion with his Ilocano Generals were defeated by the Pusyon Bisaya during the Parliamentary Elections in the seventies. The term was coined in the mid-80s by hackers who wanted to differentiate themselves from individuals whose sole purpose is to sneak through security systems. Whereas crackers sole aim is to break into secure systems, hackers are more interested in gaining knowledge about computer systems and possibly using this knowledge for playful pranks. Although hackers still argue that there's a big difference between what they do and what crackers do, the mass media has failed to understand the distinction, so the two terms -- hack and crack -- are often used interchangeably.
Poll automation feeds the wrong impression to the public that elections will be clean and credible. Because it is a machine, it is powerless against any fraud that takes place before, during, and after the elections. And, because it is just a machine, it is vulnerable to human intervention such as software attack, glitches, and other technical problems that could result in wholesale electronic cheating.
AS the national canvassing reaches its final stage, more local candidates are coming out to tell their stories of fraud during the first nationwide automated elections.
During the hearing by the House Committee on Electoral Reforms and Suffrage, Abra Rep. Cecille Seares-Luna said cheating in her province left some 40,000 people unable to vote. This was because their fingers were marked with indelible ink to prevent them from voting.
Luna also claimed that the Board of Election Inspectors in Abra shaded the ballots and said that they are just following orders. She said even the dead and those who migrated abroad were able to vote.
“Our experience in Abra is very shocking and unique because it is a combination of election fraud and violence,” Luna said.
In San Pablo, Laguna, Martin Ilagan, a vice mayoralty candidate said that some men, allegedly connected to the Smartmatic Inc, offered him and his entire slate a special service that would ensure their victory.
Martin told the panel that the group offered two schemes of cheating— one by replacing the PCOS machine or the interception of the result to the canvassing server— for P30 million.
“The first offer was P30 million, then (it was) lowered to P20 million and the last price was P8 million. I asked them I can only afford P500,000 and they agreed. However, they did not contact me after two weeks,” he said.
But Rep. Teddy Casino, chairman of the committee, did not allow Luna to elaborate, saying her electoral protest case is already with the Commission on Elections.
Surigao Gov. Ace Barbers and former PCSO Chairman Manoling Morato earlier claimed that they were also offered special service to ensure their victory. Morato said the offer was for presidential bet Gilbert Teodoro, Jr.
In the previous hearings, other local candidates also aired their experiences like our very owned Rep. Glenn Chong, also La Union Thomas Dumpit and North Cotabato Gov. Manny Pinol.
You know guys, given the expected operations of fraud machineries in the coming elections, one way by which the present Comelec can at least minimize cheating is to make poll automation open, transparent, credible, and participatory. It does not make sense that the poll body has chosen the OMR which makes counting and canvassing of votes invisible to the eye with Comelec perhaps hoping that the poll officials, machines, vendors, software developers, electronic transmission systems, and other technical services can be trusted.
