Due to the overwhelming problems they experienced in the voting process, most voters in Biliran province said they would prefer to have the manual voting.
“Mas maganda pa ang mag manual voting ngayong nararanasan sa automated election,” a report in Biliran sent to CBCP’s Operation Champ.
The first automated system in the Philippines has caused many glitches in the voting process today.
Some of the concerns were the malfunction of the PCOS machines, names that were not found in the voter’s list, vote buying, disenfranchisement, and such.
The first automated election has been very controversial because of the many problems that occurred since its initiation until this election.
The Commission on Election teamed up with Smartmatic to carry out the concept of the first automated election in the Philippines that has been believed to ensure fast, clean, and organized election. (Kate Laceda)
